We are Professional Business Intermediaries that specialize in the manufacturing and distribution marketplace for companies that have up to thirty million dollars in annual revenue. The company's unique background allows us to focus on this sector, and provide both sellers and buyers with an unmatched level of service.

Acquisition Business Advisors maintains a database of potential purchasers that are qualified by their business management and financial abilities, as well as their business interests and purchasing timetable. This database allows us to present companies for sale to a pre-qualified list of serious and financially capable parties.

Additionally, we maintain a database of potential sellers which is used in directed searches for specific buyers under contract with Acquisition Business Advisors to procure them a business.

PERSONNEL

Karen Rehn, Partner, Broker

Karen Rehn of Acquisition Business AdvisorsMs. Rehn was the founder and president of Rehn Business Brokers, which was in business for over 10 years. She purchased the firm after selling her manufacturing company.  In 2006 Rehn joined forces with Chris Kapenga and formed Acquisition Business Advisors. Karen is responsible for new business development and market research. She focuses on identifying and developing consultative relationships with prospective clients. A win-win style of negotiating has worked extremely well for Karen over the years, and will help any interested buyer or seller get off to a solid start.

Karen also offers business consulting with a special emphasis on exit strategies for sellers. Karen is a expert in the staffing industry and currently is doing consulting through out the United States for the staffing industry.  On the buy side, she manages a successful Buyer Agency Program that helps buyers acquire special interest acquisitions.

Karen has an extensive background in sales and marketing and has received numerous awards for top sales performance. She is a licensed broker by the State of Wisconsin, and is currently on the board of directors for Tempo Envision, a group of women executives and business owners.

 Chris Kapenga, CPA CBI, Partner

Chris Kapenga Acquisition Business Advisors PartnerChris Kapenga formed Acquisition Business Advisors in 2006 with Karen Rehn. He is a CPA and CBI with over 15 years experience in consulting, business ownership, and Mergers and Acquisition work. He has a wife and two daughters and lives in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

Chris's career began with 8 years in public accounting, where he built his skill set performing audit and consulting engagements for clients in all industries. The last several years were spent with Arthur Anderson in Milwaukee. He then went to GE Medical Systems and was the Americas Finance Manager for the MR Division. Here Chris was responsible for overseeing the finances for North, Central, and South America.

Prior to joining Rehn, Chris purchased a retail, services, and distribution company. He was able to successfully build the business to triple the revenues with an international presence.

Chris partnered with Rehn in 2006 and together they formed ABA. He is focused on using the skills he has developed as a CPA and M&A specialist to connect buyers and sellers. He has a passion for working with people and building on their energy.  Chris has also achieved the prestigious CBI (Certified Business Intermediary) designation from the International Business Brokers Association.

Jeanette Clayton,  Sales Assistant

JC_headshot(1).jpgJeanette Clayton is the sales assistant  and has been with ABA for 4 years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business & Psychology from the University of Rochester - New York. Jeanette is responsible for working with buyers through the initial steps of the process and identifies potential business sellers. She also assists with client material preparation and administrative duties.

Prior to joining ABA, Clayton worked in sales and as an office manager in the insurance and technology fields. She is currently active as a volunteer fund raiser, basketball coach and as a figure skating instructor.

 

 
 

Jerry Hegy, CPA, Merger/Acquisition Specialist

jerry_pix1(1).jpg Jerry recently joined ABA after they assisted him in selling his local staffing franchise.  He has over 25 years experience in accounting, human resources and merger and acquisitions, working for both buyers and sellers.

Jerry holds an undergraduate degree in accounting and a MBA.  After obtaining his CPA designation and working in public accounting, he moved into CFO positions for several Milwaukee manufacturing and distribution companies.  In 1989 he started the local franchise for Remedy Staffing and developed into multiple offices, which consistently ranked in the top 10 employment agencies published by the Milwaukee Business Journal.  Jerry will be using these past experiences in both the buy and the sell side of the transactions to ABA's arsenal.
